Weston Lakes Makes Top 10 Most Affluent Suburbs in Houston

Recently released by Houston Business Journal, data compiled revealed Houston’s most affluent communities based on numerous components, from home values to education levels. As expected, neighborhoods in Memorial and those within 610’s inner loop were amongst this prestigious list. However, a new community was able to premiere into the rankings this year- Fulshear, particularly Weston Lakes. At number 9, Weston Lakes, has proved substantial credibility to this newfound honor.
A large portion of the credit goes towards the rapid suburban growth that has occurred here in Fulshear over the past decade. According to Fulshear’s economic development department, the city has experienced a staggering population increase of nine hundred percent in the last eight years, bringing the city’s population to date near 8,000 residents. Fulshear has prime access to the Energy Corridor, and it pays. The median household income for a resident is more than three times the Houston average. It also has prime access to Interstate 10, Grand Parkway, and the extension of the Westpark Tollway.

It is not all about location and a salary in this west-Houston suburb. Our community is nestled among some beautiful hills and creeks, topography that not many others in our area can boast of. With a quaint downtown area, Fulshear has numerous local shops and eateries that give the home town feel. In addition, families reside here to create a great future for their children. Fulshear has been zoned into both Katy and Lamar Independent School Districts, some of the best in the Houston area.
Even with all the growth, residents and city officials alike, maintain that Fulshear has and will continue to uphold its “small town atmosphere.” Mayor of Fulshear, Tommy Kuykendall, recognizes the importance of raising a family in this community, and “we hope to hold onto that,” he says.
