A couple of weekends ago, on March 4th, James E. Randolph Elementary in Fulshear hosted a Boosterthon Fun Run event. The Boosterthon Fun Run is a nine-day program that raises funds for local schools and inspires students to live healthy lives with character-focus.
In fact, Boosterthon’s cutting edge program raises 70 percent more funds than alternative fundraisers. The Fun Run event is a national program that exposes more than 1 million students in 1,600 schools across the country to real kid-athletes in other cultures who play a sports with character.
The theme this year was “Big World Recess” and students ran for about 30 minutes to themed music at the fun run.
The fitness theme this year featured stories of six kid-athletes, who demonstrated the importance of living out character in sports and in life. Students at the fun run were presented with these uplifting stories originating in New York City, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Switzerland and Kenya.
Boosterthon students in Fulshear also experienced how sports can bring people together. Documentary-style videos taught students how to develop teamwork, curiosity, humility, confidence and endurance through the everyday stories of the six kid-athletes.
Of all of the exciting aspects to the Boosterthon program, the most exciting addition to the Boosterthon Fun Run program this year is the brand-new Student Star video.
